That thread has one person calling him a sociopath, one person expressing lament that Duncan would not accept responsibility for his own actions, and one person calling attention to the conditions Duncan was raised in. That's the whole thread. I would hardly call that "the majority of BoyChatters", and I wouldn't say that the majority of those responses fit your description.

A larger thread on the subject is http://www.boychat.org/messages/926994.htm . The responses currently are:

* One person complaining that today's mental care system discourages potential child abusers from seeking help
* One person saying Duncan is not a victim, that others have "demons" too without hurting children, and that Duncan "deserves whatever the **** he gets". Others reply saying they agree totally or partially.
* One person saying "He didn't need counseling; he probably needed a life sentence when he was 16 years old". Others reply with the sentiment that prison doesn't necessarily help, but different approaches might (one saying he thinks Duncan is "a seriously deranged man")

Again, there is no majority saying Duncan is a victim without responsibility. I don't see any indication at all that anyone there would agree with that. And I certainly don't see anyone at all defending Duncan's actions.

Duncan has done some gravely horrible things, and it's hard to keep one's head cold when discussing them, but I think it's all the more important to stay factual. Painting BoyChatters black isn't constructive in this case.
